Easter

Pray for our teams as they celebrate Easter, the central hope of our faith, the essence of who Jesus is, enacted in history and reverberating into eternity.

In India, Indonesia and Cambodia, Christians are a small minority of the population, and Easter is falling within the Muslim month of fasting, only a few days after the major Hindu festival of Holi. Pray for our workers and their local Christian friends and colleagues, as they celebrate Holy Week and Easter, and continue to (attempt to be) living testimonies to the truth and meaning of the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Teams in Asia

Cambodia
  • Pray for the team as they discern their direction.
  • Thanks for all those who attended the recent supporters call with the team, and everyone who supports the team with encouragement, prayer, and finances
Philippines
  • Tim Ignacio: It has been a challenging first few months of 2024 for Tim – please pray for his first year of marriage to continue to teach him how to be a good spouse, for his continuing to support Ate Mani and the ‘Helping Bayong’ livelihood project, as well as his continuing studies at Asian Theological Seminary.
  • Emma Bandibas (Living Springs Christian Church, Bukid/F.Carlos): We are full of praises and prayer, thankful to God for the 29 years he has been with and guided us and the preschool Pandayang Bata. Still there are many issues in the community – pray for land ownership process, a plot for the church, and home situations of our students.
  • Patrick Indlekofer (Servants/Streetbelievers): While some of the Streetbelievers team are soon stepping back from ministry on the ground (including myself during my sabbatical), we give thanks for 2 new workers who are now on their trial period. Thank you for praying for them in their journey serving the homeless.
  • Manilyn Tanega: Quite unexpectedly we need to find a new place for our community centre, please pray for us to find something good soon. May God lead us to the place that suits HIS plans for our community best.
  • Kathrin Keller: Pray for Kathrin as she transitions from many years of active ministry in Manila, to retirement in Switzerland. Thanks for many special moments already in saying goodbyes, and for a clear sense of the right timing to return “home”.
  • Rachel Hauser: give thanks for several meaningful events and encounters in the last few weeks, and deep gratitude for all she can see or experience with people. Please pray for her to not miss those ‘inivitations’.
Women reading Quran – an important religious practice during the Muslim month of fasting
Indonesia
  • Anita* is excited to announce the launching of her new book, Downward Discipleship: How Amy Carmichael Gave Me Courage to Serve in a Slum. Pray that this book would be a blessing, inspiring many people to choose to follow Jesus into slum communities.
  • Pray for House of Hope, our students and teachers.
  • Our teammate Gusti* still hopes to find a new home to live in. Pray that the Lord would provide the right house for him.
  • It is (Muslim) fasting month. Pray that our neighbours would encounter Jesus as they fast and pray.
India
  • Thanks for: Anas* and Aliya* had a good month back with us and are planning to join our team in 2025
  • Pray for progress in the anti-corruption work
  • Pray for healing for our patients who are quite sick: Prem (tongue cancer), Saniya Bano (congenital heart defect), Ram Devi (abdominal cancer), Nafrin Bano (drug resistant TB)
  • Pray that for the upcoming Indian election, people will vote (and parties campaign) on development issues rather than religious and caste divides

Answers to Prayer

Thank you for praying for our teams and their neighbours and wider concerns. Rejoice with us that our prayers are being answered …

Rose Pecio (Onesimo): Praise the Lord, we thank so much for an answered prayer that Amlac, in Payatas, an Onesimo residential centre for boys was allowed to continue to use the facilities this year. (Please pray that the land classification can be amended to “charitable organisation” so they will not face this problem in future.)
