Seeds of Hope in India | 8 Nov

While monsoon gives way to rapidly approaching winter, recent months have brought many other changes too. The team have welcomed and farewell-ed several visitors, celebrated the arrival of new long-term team members, witnessed the demolition of the slum “next door”, developed an AI-Hindi-literacy app, navigated some changes in the local team of volunteers, and much more.

In amongst all this, our landlady handed me a few seeds and asked me to plant them – seeds for “turai” a green seasonal vegetable that grows on a vine. The seeds took off and the thin vine is already passing by the window one storey above! Like this amazing green string of leaves, hope is real and unfolding before our eyes; hope is also vulnerable and fragile.

There’s a lot more to say, so please join us for an India team online catch up – no visas, no immigration hassles, no post-Diwali air pollution. (At Diwali the whole country celebrates with oil lamps, coloured lights, and lots of fire crackers, leaving a pollution haze that can hang around for months during these low rainfall months.)

The on-line catch-up will be hosted on Zoom at 10:30am India time, Saturday November 8th.

That will be late night on Friday 7th in the Americas, bright and early Saturday morning in UK and Europe, morning in Asia, and afternoon in Australia and New Zealand. Check the actual time in your timezone here.

Join us for a time of stories, photos, questions and prayer.
