Zoom into India

Join us online to catch up with the latest happenings on the India team, on Saturday 27th April. The past few months have been crowded with visitors, major religious festivals, and a few medical crises. Of course life is still full with the daily mundane tasks and regular work – washing, cooking, literacy classes, attempting to tackle corruption, struggling for better services for the urban poor, and supporting the team of local staff in all their amazing work. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to hear the stories, see the photos, and pray for the team.

Politics and Religion

Maybe politics and religion are taboo subjects – things better left unsaid, to avoid causing offense or attracting criticism. It’s not like that in India – everyone has a religion and generally is very happy to tell you about it. And politics is always in the air, and perhaps a little too closely interwoven with religion, for a country that calls itself a secular democracy! India is about to enter its 6-week long national election process. Will PM Modi embark on his expected third term, championing India as a Hindu nation? Or might there be some surprises? What does all this mean for the average slum-dweller, or for foreigners in their midst?
