Daniel writes: the people sitting on benches near the Gurudwara on Havelock Road watch me with curiosity (or perhaps mild amusement) as i head off to the allotment with a bundle of gardening tools, and return with arm-fulls of lettuces.
I’ve had offers of work, and even someone asking for a job on my farm!
I can’t see us providing employment, but with time I’d love to see more local people get involved in growing food. In the meantime unsuspecting visitors are often pressganged into a bit of weeding or watering.
